Program Overview
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) Program is housed in the Counseling and Social Work Department at Franciscan University of Steubenville. The program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level professional counseling practice. Graduates from this program will receive the academic and experiential foundations that will enable them to function as clinical mental health counselors in a variety of settings, such as community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, pastoral settings, drug and alcohol facilities, university counseling centers, and career counseling agencies. The program of study has been developed to address eligibility requirements for counselor licensure in Ohio and most other states. The program is CACREP accredited in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty area. The experience and knowledge gained in this program provide students with a firm foundation for doctoral-level study in counselor education and supervision or related areas of study.
