NRS 4500 NURSING MANAGEMENT OF ADULTS II
This course will explore the essential elements of nursing care for the adult client who is experiencing a complex health crisis across the healthcare continuum. Content is built upon the foundations of physiology and pathophysiology in adults. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of infection, cancer, stress/coping, health-wellness-illness, communication, caring interventions, managing care, safety, quality improvement and informatics/technology.

- 1. Perform head to toe and focused assessments of the adult client with an alteration in health.
- 2. Demonstrate satisfactory competence in clinical skills per the NRS 450 Clinical Evaluation Tool.
- 3. Detect changes within the internal and external environment of adult clients with complex alterations in health.
- 4. Identify needs of clients and apply components of the nursing process to develop a plan of care to meet those needs.
- 5. Communicate effectively with individuals, support persons and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- 6. Correlate diagnostic test and procedures within the identified complex healthcare alteration.
- 7. Correlate diagnostic test and procedures across the health-wellness-illness continuum.
- 8. Analyze the role of medication regimens in the adult patient and its impact on health-wellness-illness.
- 9. Explore the concepts of grief, loss and spirituality as it relates to the patient with a complex health care crisis.
- 10. Incorporate informatics and technology to formulate evidenced-based clinical judgements and decisions.
- 11. Understand the processes of clinical reasoning and applications in nursing practice.
- 12. Explore healthcare in regard to policy and regulations, cost effective strategies, quality improvement processes and safety.
- 13. Provide safe, culturally competent therapeutic care to clients.
