NRS 4400 REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

This course will explore the essential elements of nursing care across the maternal and family healthcare continuum. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of sexuality, reproduction, grief/loss, mood/affect, behavior, development, family, health-wellness-illness, communication, caring interventions, managing care, safety, quality improvement, informatics/technology and advocacy.

1. 1. Detect changes within the internal and external environment of clients across the maternal and family health care continuum including care of the newborn.
2. 2. Explore nursing practice related to sexuality and fertility, including client-centered care for individuals from all gender identities.
3. 3. Demonstrate satisfactory completion of clinical skills per the NRS 440 Clinical Evaluation Tool.
4. 4. Communicate effectively with individuals, support persons and members of the interdisciplinary team.
5. 5. Correlate diagnostic test and procedures across the health-wellness-illness continuum.
6. 6. Incorporate informatics and technology to formulate evidenced-based clinical judgements and decisions.
7. 7. Understand the processes of clinical reasoning and applications in nursing practice.
8. 8. Provide care in regard to policy and regulations, cost effective strategies, quality improvement processes and safety.
9. 9. Implement caring interventions incorporating documented best practices for individuals in diverse family health settings.
10. 10. Provide safe, culturally competent therapeutic care to clients.
