NURS 2150 Geriatric Foundations

The course explores the needs of an aging population: wellness, health promotion, illness prevention, coping with acute and chronic illness, life transitions, loss, and end of life. Safety and patient centered care are emphasized across the spectrum of living arrangements from the independent home dweller to continuing care residential facilities - 2 theory hours. Successful completion of both the theory and clinical components of the course with a letter grade of ‘C+’ (2.3) or higher is necessary to pass the course. Prerequisites: Successful completion of PSY 3187, BIO 3450 and BIO 3455, and EC 2000 with a grade of 'C' (2.0) or higher (or concurrent enrollment). Eligible for sophomore 2 level standing in the Nursing program.
