Architectural Technology, Associate of Applied Science
(Suggested Occupational Plan)
This program provides knowledge and skills in the diverse areas of applied architecture, building engineering, and construction. Computer applications in drafting, design, and building systems provide the student with skills essential to a career in architectural technology. In the first year, the student should acquire a foundation in building design, materials, methods of construction, and computer-aided drawing. Then in the second year of the program, the student will build on this background and take up residential and commercial building types in architecture and construction and building service systems, as well as architectural drawing and rendering. This program includes the complete curriculum from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Architectural Drafting Program of Study (ARCE 1352, ARCE 2352, DFTG 1305, DFTG 1317, DFTG 1345, DFTG 2319, DFTG 2328, DFTG 2332, DFTG 2338).
