Residential Care Attendant - RC21

This program is designed to produce graduates with the knowledge and skills as well as work ethics to care for individuals with special needs who reside in assisted living/residential care facilities, or who still live at home. Emphasis is placed on communication skills, cultural diversity, aging, disabilities, body mechanics, infection control, transporting techniques, nutrition, safety, elimination needs, and vital signs. Students will also explore the interpersonal relationships between caregivers and the elderly and various diseases related to aging. The graduate works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or practical nurse.
