BIO 250 Winter Dendrology

This course focuses on native and introduced woody plants found throughout the Central Kentucky Region. Class meetings are field and laboratory-oriented, focusing on an interpretive introduction to dendrology. Emphasis is placed on identification, uses, habitat, natural history, and communities of woody plants in the in the regional out-of-doors. Trees will also serve as vehicle to explore pertinent environmental issues. Students will develop and synthesize observational, writing, critical thinking, and technical skills to gain a more holistic understanding of the role trees play in society.
