CRJ 323 Cold Case Investigations

This course is designed to provide an introduction and overview of cold case investigations, focusing primarily on examining cases that have remained unsolved for decades. This course will prepare students with the essential skills required for careers in law and law enforcement. Students will receive instruction in criminalistics, criminal law, and investigation tactics. Students will review examples of homicide and missing person cases, and learn how to apply current investigation techniques and methods to solve cold cases. Students will learn that when investigating these long-unsolved cases they must address both practical and theoretical considerations before doing so. This course is structured to provide students with hands-on investigative experience and a deeper understanding of the workings of the criminal justice system.
