PHAR 5183 History of Pharmacy
This course introduces the student to the history of the profession of pharmacy, spanning from ancient to modern times. The student will learn about the development and evolution of the pharmacy profession and its profound effects on the advancement of medicine, human civilization, and society. The course will provide discussion of topics including the ancient origins of the practice of pharmacy, the development of the profession and education in Europe and the United States, and discoveries and contributions of pharmacists throughout history.
