Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems program provides students with the theoretical and experiential knowledge and skills required for a diversity of in-demand and challenging career opportunities. The program is designed to prepare students with the technical, interpersonal, ethical and industry knowledge they need to become information systems professionals. The program curriculum incorporates the best guidance from professional organizations and regional businesses and national level recommendations for technical curriculum development. This enables our curriculum to reflect current and leading-edge knowledge and skills. The program continues to incorporate emerging technologies and practices of the global environment in which we live.
Students in the Computer Information Systems program specialize in one of three areas: Computer Programming, Cyber Security, and Computer Networking. Students are required to conduct internships and demonstrate expertise in a capstone/practicum project in the area of their concentration.
Students who wish to enhance their chosen field of study may complete a minor.
The Computer Information Systems degree program consists of 44 credit hours of required CIS program core courses, plus the selected specialization, which includes coursework ranging from 18 to 27 credit hours. Students are also required to complete the university core course requirements (43 hours) and additional general electives, at the 3000 or higher course level, to complete a minimum of 120 hours in total to graduate. This major culminates in a capstone course experience in which students integrate Computer Information Systems concepts and demonstrate what they have learned in a useful and meaningful way.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems Degree Plan
