EDUC 2345 Child Development and Play
Child Development and Play focuses on the developing child from birth through the early elementary years and the importance of play-based learning. The course presents the developing child’s growth through the theoretical framework of play. This course specifically addresses the principles and patterns of development, the developmental domains, and the role of play in healthy development. Students will learn about the history, theories, trends, and issues in play and child development. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) guidelines and the Texas Pre-Kindergarten standards provide a framework for the examination of early childhood programs. Offered in Fall and Spring.
