Sport Management (Master of Science)

See: Sport Management (MS)

College/School: Illa Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions

The Master of Science in Sport Management is a 30-hour program designed for people desiring a career with mission-driven sport organizations. These types of organizations place the participant above seeking a profit for an owner. Students will learn the skills to form, market, fund, staff, connect, and lead these organizations in purposeful ways. Graduates are also prepared to advance sport-for-development-and-peace programs which utilize sport as a vehicle for enhancing community development, health education, or many other positive outcomes. Example mission-driven organizations include non-governmental sport organizations (San Antonio Sports, USA Football, USA Archery), international organizations (International Olympic Committee, Basketball Embassy, Sport and Peace), charitable institutions (Spurs Give), amateur sports organizations (Pop Warner, San Antonio Sport and Social Club), and university athletic departments (UIW Athletics, Texas State University Athletics).

Courses in the program are delivered in both face-to-face and online modalities. Students may choose which version on a class-by-class basis.
