Student Body Diversity
The student body at Strayer University reflects the cultural diversity of the metropolitan areas where the campuses are located. Through its online program, the University attracts students from all 50 states and worldwide. In addition, the strength of its curricula attracts a student population of various ages, a majority of whom are working adults.
As of winter quarter 2017, the University's student body had the following demographics. Students aged 31 years or older account for approximately 66% of the student body, students aged 23-30 constitute 29% and traditional college age students (under 23) constitute 5%. The percentage of female students constitutes more than 66% of the student body. More than 90% of students identified with one or more ethnic or racial minorities.
As of spring term 2017, the University was attracting the students it was designed to serve. Eighty-five percent (85%) of students were studying part-time to balance the rest of their obligations. The average age was 35, with only 5% younger than 23 years old.
