MCM 497A Visual Communications: Principles &_Practices
This course has three major components: the basic principles of design, the technology of design, and a real-world project to help understand how design works in business practice and to develop the critical thinking tools to discuss, plan, and analyze the visual aspects of projects frequently encountered by communications professionals. The course combines lectures with in-class computer lab time, and provides grounding in the basics of visual communication in order to enhance the student's ability to craft messages with as much impact as possible. Students will be required to spend significant time outside of class in the computer lab or will need access to the Adobe Creative Suite software on their own. Monitored lab hours will be available and negotiated to meet the students' schedules.
