EDS 404 Advanced Curriculum: SWD
This course explores general methods and materials appropriate for working with students with disabilities at the elementary through the secondary level. Emphasizes approaches and strategies in teaching and learning as well as the role of the special educator in the school community and with families. Participants select, adapt, and develop instructional materials across curriculum areas, student needs, and school environments. Using the Common Core Standards and Smarter Balanced Assessment system, candidates adapt curriculum and use assessment data to identify gaps in subgroup performance and determine approaches for those struggling to meet grade-level expectations.
