An examination of the history of the United States from the early 1900s to the late 1990s with an emphasis on how political, economic, and social developments shaped the conditions, attitudes, and values of present-day America. Subjects to be discussed include the American Expansion, the Progressive Era, World War I, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, Roosevelt’s New Deal Programs, World War II, Cold War, the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam War, Johnson’s Great Society, movements of the 1960s, and social changes in recent decades.
