Exemptions from Placement Testing

New RCC student must meet at least one of the criteria below to be exempted from testing in that area. Scores older than three (3) years cannot be considered for a test exemption.

Transfer Students may be exempted from taking the Accuplacer assessment test after review of official transcripts demonstrating proof of completing college-level math and/or English composition courses with a grade of “C” or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. Exemptions are based on a review of your college records and the specific degree program you are pursuing. Send official transcripts to Records and Registration for review. If you have taken the Accuplacer assessment at a college or university within the last two years, the scores must be faxed directly from your school. Fax to: 845-574-4397

International students with degrees from foreign universities may be required to demonstrate English proficiency.

Exemption by Test Score

Official copies of test scores must be submitted to Admissions and the Request for Waiver of the Placement Test submitted to Placement and Assessment.
