BSN Completion Program for 2-Year LPN Degree
To be admitted to the BSN program students must:
- Be admitted to Presentation College
- Hold unencumbered, active LPN license
- Graduate from state-approved practical nursing degree program (2 years)
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher
- Have a minimum of 1,000 hours of nursing practice experience (or less with permission of department)
- Submit two satisfactory professional character references (forms available)
- Submit to national criminal background screening (cost incurred by students); see policy in the Nursing Student Handbook regarding interpretation of results. Students in Minnesota are also required to complete, by state law, a criminal background screening (cost incurred by College)
- A laptop computer is required; access to high-speed internet recommended
- Have completed all prerequisite courses and NLN testing
For progression in the nursing program students must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher
- Maintain an unencumbered LPN license (on file)
- Meet all course prerequisites
- Be in compliance with South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and other appropriate state Nurse Practice Acts at all times
- Earn a “C” (2.00) in all required nursing major and health professions track requirement courses
- Demonstrate competence on all NLN Mobility profiles and meet the required benchmarks prior to enrolling in the first nursing course. Students must meet the benchmark on all of the mobility profile exams the first time. If students don’t meet the benchmark the first time they will do formal remediation to master the content before retaking the exam.
The benchmark for the NLN NACE II Care of the adult client is 74%
The benchmark for the NLN NACE II Care of the child is 70%
The benchmark for the NLN NACE II Care of the childbearing family is 70%
The benchmark for the NLN NACE II Care of the client with a mental disorder is 70%.
- NU333 Health Assessment challenge requires a score of 90% on both the exam and head-to-toe assessment; the challenge exam process for NU333 must be completed 60 days prior to first course offering NOTE: Only 1 attempt is allowed
- Demonstrate competence in medication test at 100% in NU445 and NU455
- Meet the credits and general education competencies required for graduation; 33 credits must be earned at Presentation College
- Submit satisfactory national background screening and Minnesota background screening, if applicable, annually by July 1
Procedures during the program:
- Once admitted, students will work closely with an advisor to complete all program requirements and general education competencies
- NU313 is the prerequisite to all nursing courses
- NU466 must be the last nursing course
- Students must demonstrate computer literacy and have access to a computer and the Internet
- Students are responsible for scheduling the NLN exams with the proctor and must be completed within the first semester they are enrolled, prior to being enrolled in nursing courses; payment must be received prior to exam and is non-refundable
- If a Student does not meet the benchmark on all of the mobility profile exams the first time, the will do formal remediation to master the content before retaking the exam.

If the exam is not passed on the second attempt, students will be required to take the appropriate coursework. An individualized plan of study will be developed. Coursework may or may not be available online.
- Courses challenged with exams will be recorded on the transcript for a fee, not including the challenge test fee*
- Maintain current health requirements/CPR (see Nursing Student Handbook)
- Clinical courses require travel, and no student is guaranteed placement at a specific site.
- Students are responsible for all travel and related expenses for clinical and course requirements
- Students requesting challenge of nursing courses must successfully complete the corresponding NLN exam(s) and clinical competency prior to earning full course credit

- NLN mobility exam NLN NACE II Care of the client with a mental disorder (NU344 - 4 crs and PS133 - 3 crs)
- NLN mobility exam NLN NACE II Care of the child and NLN NACE II Care of the childbearing family (NB338 - 8 crs and PS153 - 3 crs)
- NLN mobility exam NLN NACE 2 care of the adult client (NB368 - 8 crs, BI263 - 3 crs, BL263 - 1 cr, BI283 - 3 crs, BL281 - 1 cr, NB303 - 3 crs, and NB235 - 2 crs)
- NU333 Health Assessment
- College Composition I - CLEP (prerequisite to EN133 or EN313)
- CH103/CL101 (prerequisite to CH133/CL131)
