This course examines theories and models of career development, counseling, and decision-making. Students will learn approaches for conceptualizing the interrelationships among and between work, mental well-being, relationships, and other life roles and factors.

Upon the completion of this course, students will:

1. Understand career development and related life factors.
2. Understand career development theories and decision-making models.
3. Understand avocational, educational, occupational and labor market information resources, and career information systems.
4. Understand career development program planning, organization, implementation administration, and evaluation.
5. Understand interrelationships among and between work, family, and other life roles and factors, including the role of multicultural issues in career development.
6. Understand career and educational planning, placement, follow-up, and evaluation.
7. Demonstrate an ability to understand and use assessment instruments and techniques relevant to career planning and decision making.
8. Understand career counseling processes, techniques, and resources, including those applicable to specific populations in a global economy.
9. Learn about the empirical research related to career development.
10. Acquire an ability to interpret various career assessments and provide test feedback.
