Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) Certificate
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as teachers. The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) provides an alternate route to teacher certification for college graduates who were not education majors. Students with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university may enter the EPI program, which consists of competency-based instruction, in order to prepare to take the Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) in Professional Preparation and Education Competence (PE). Applicants for the EPI program must have already passed all four sections of the General Knowledge Test (GK) and specific Subject Area Exam (SAE). EPI applications must include a FLDOE Official Statement of Status of Eligibility from the Department of Education.
