CJK 0293 Overview of Law Enforcement
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the values and ethics required for criminal justice officers, understand the consequences of sexual harassment, describe the criminal justice system, describe the structure of criminal justice agencies, understand the Fourth Amendment related to search and seizure, know what constitutes a lawful arrest, understand the Fifth and Sixth Amendments related to the interrogation of suspects, determine when a crime has been committed and the elements necessary to make an arrest for that crime, understand the legal rules and concepts of evidence, be able to articulate the legal justification for the use of force, understand an officer's duties and options in civil (noncriminal) incidents, and be familiar with the legal considerations.
