PHYS 250 Thermal and Statistical Physics

An introduction to thermodynamics, including temperature, heat, work and entropy. The fundamental tools of statistical mechanics will also be introduced, including the Boltzmann factor, the chemical potential, the Gibbs factor and distribution functions. These tools will be applied to the ideal gas, Fermi and Bose gases, and phase transformations.
