FYS 68 A Critical Examination of American Society
This course examines the culture and structure of American society through sociological and critical perspectives. Topics include beliefs, key institutions, community patterns, and systems of inequality. Contemporary topics include mass incarceration, mass shootings, COVID, and police brutality. We will be actively drawing on documentaries and current events (e.g., news and podcasts) in order to better make sense of American society. This course will enable you to further hone your writing, analytical, and research skills.
