DWA 377 Rising Nations: The Political Economy of the BRIC Countries and the Challenge to US Leadership
Junior seminar on the global impact of the rising nations of Brazil India Russia and China--so-called BRIC countries--the growth of their economies and their growing political and economic influence on global power arrangements--and an analysis of the US response to the rise of these nations in the post-Cold War era of globalization. What is the intellectual justification of the course? Provide juniors and seniors in DWA and related majors with an analysis of key players on the international scene and a critical examination of how the US is responding to a multi-polar world.
