GWS201 Masculinities

This course seeks to understand the cultural construction of masculinities, and will explore central questions such as: What does it mean to be masculine? Who gets to decide? How can we alter the definition(s)? How can we dialogue with each other in inclusive ways? We will build a foundation for the course by examining the critical framework for thinking about what it means to be masculine. Then, we will explore the various ways masculinity has been and continues to be constructed, along with its effects on people’s lived experiences.
