This certificate is designed for students wishing to become employed or self-employed in the horticulture industry or to enhance their knowledge base in horticulture for career advancement. Students are prepared for a wide range of employment opportunities in landscaping and landscape management, nursery and garden center operations, turf management and urban tree care.

Program Student Learner Outcomes

  • Utilize and integrate knowledge of plant science to both managed and naturally occurring horticultural systems.
  • Demonstrate interdisciplinary knowledge and competency in managing plant systems.
  • Use insight and creativity to evaluate, design and improve managed and naturally occurring plant systems.
  • Demonstrate both proficiency and professionalism in skills that relate to working in environmental horticulture.
  • Appreciate and communicate the diversity of impacts horticulture has on people and communities.
