DRG201 Substance Abuse Counseling for Individuals
Covers a variety of skills and techniques at an intermediate level, which are used in individual counseling with a substance abuse client. Students will be taught intake and diagnostic skills, how to deal with denial and other defense mechanisms, the effective use of confrontation, treatment planning and goal setting and involvement of the client in problem solving. Skill building will be reinforced by role play in each session.
