CHE201 Organic Chemistry 1
Designed for science and engineering majors. Topics include: nomenclature, structure, and properties (including nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared absorbance) of the common classes of organic compounds. The most generally useful among functional group transformations are discussed along with their major reaction mechanisms. Laboratory work involves practice in current techniques, selected functional group transformations as well as practical applications. Fulfills open, liberal arts, and with CHE202, laboratory science sequence electives. (3 hours of lecture, 3 hours of lab per week)
