PTHA 1409 Introduction to Physical Therapy
2 lec/4 lab (4 Cr) This course will provide an introduction to the profession of physical therapy and the role of the physical therapist assistant. Topics will include: the history purpose and scope of physical therapy; identification of the roles and responsibilities of the physical therapist assistant; principles and techniques of patient handling and functional skills; basic patient handling and functional skills; selected data collection techniques; communication skills. Prerequisite: Admission into the PTA program. Co-requisites: PTHA 1413 PTHA 1321. (2 hours lec/ 4 hours lab/week).
