Library Media and Information Science

Division of Education

The Library Media and Information Science (LMIS) program supports the University mission by preparing professionally trained librarians. The program focuses on school librarianship as the coursework can be used to obtain a school librarian credential from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.

The program also assists students who want to pursue other types of librarianship. Professional librarianship is nationally recognized at graduate levels. Students working on their undergraduate degree who plan for further education can use this program to start their academic journey. Those students should contact Byrnes-Quanbeck Library staff for an individualized learning plan.
