EC 398 Child Development Internship
This course fulfills LEAP requirements and must be completed through Mayville State University. In a setting with children ages 3-5, this experience aims to relate what is learned in the Early Childhood classes to actual teaching practices. Students will scaffold children’s learning by teaching formal and informal (play) activities and arranging the environment to support children’s developmental needs. During the internship experience, students will interact with children, families, and the community in which they are working. As a part of the internship, students will be responsible for a service-learning project that supports a need within the program or community. This project will demonstrate social and personal responsibility as they confront contemporary issues and become actively involved with their program and community. This 300-hour internship experience occurs at the conclusion of the major. Students will work with the course instructor to plan an appropriate experience in a childcare setting with children ages 3-5.
