DAT.5060 Optimization and Risk Assessment
In this course, students will learn how to determine the relevancy of data, to identify macro- and micro-level risk, and to evaluate risk management programs, policies, and strategies. Students will learn how to evaluate and mitigate potential risks using a range of quantitative tools and techniques, as well as how to develop and apply optimization models to complex data processing problems. Students will explore various optimization and risk assessment methods and will learn how to apply them to real-world problems. They will also be introduced to software tools and techniques for implementing these models and generating data-based insights. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply optimization and risk assessment techniques to large data sets, including working with cloud-based data, and identifying relevant optimization and risk mitigation approaches in a given context.
