TAP Waivers
A student may apply for a TAP waiver in “exceptional or extraordinary cases” in which they have not met the academic criteria to receive a TAP award. TAP waivers are granted only once to students and only for reasons which are beyond the control of the student. TAP waivers can only be considered for students who have maintained good academic standing for all but one (1) semester and who fall short of the published Pursuit or Progress standard for that one (1) semester. See the Satisfactory Academic Progress for TAP Recipients section for more information.
Students who have not met Satisfactory Academic Progress for TAP, will be notified by Manhattanville’s New York State TAP Certifying Officer via a decertification email. Those students who wish to be considered for a waiver must complete a Waiver Appeal Form, which will be provided with the decertification email. The Waiver Appeal must include a written statement outlining the reasons why the student feels they are eligible for the waiver. After careful consideration, the Waiver Appeals Committee renders a decision and informs the student in writing. Manhattanville’s New York State TAP Certifying Officer then notifies New York State of the decision. The persons authorized to grant waivers are responsible for adhering to the requirements and regulations of the TAP waiver guidelines. They may consult with the student, their teachers, advisors, or other parties. However, the final decision rests with the committee.
