CSCH 3008 THE HEROIC:CLASSICAL & MODERN
The theme of this course is consideration of representations of "the heroic" in the Western tradition, both classical and modern. After two theoretical considerations of the theme, we will follow a chronological approach, employing both historical and imaginative artistic expression. Lives exemplifying military, political, and artistic heroism are included. Besides the reading, discussion, and viewing of flms, students will research and write on a heroic life of their choice.
