SPN 5043 CONTEMPORARY LATIN AMERICAN SHORT STORIES

A comprehensive survey and introduction to selective stories by the most important and exciting Latin American short fiction writers of the modern era. Students will read and analyze the stories from a cultural, historical and psychological perspective. Representative authors include Joaquim Maria Machado de Asis, Ruben Dario, Juan Rulfo, Carlos Fuentes, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The course will be offered in English.
