ARH 5076 TROUBLED IMAGES: ART & CONFLICT IN IRELAND
This seminar surveys political art in Ireland from the 19th and 20th centuries to the present. Students are introduced to the visual arts of modern-day Ireland. Issues of national identity and cultural revivalism are addressed as we look at Irish political art beginning with the Celtic Revival of the late 1840s and continuing to the Northern Irish mural movement of the 1980s and 1990s. Students complete a research paper and present an oral report.
