ENG 215 Latino/A Literature

Examines the evolution of Latino/a literature in the United States beginning in the mid 16th century, including the original contact between European and pre-Columbian societies. The class explores thematic issues that have influenced and shaped the literature of Latino minorities, as well as students' own perceptions of Latin culture. Readings may include works of history, memoirs, letters and essays, as well as fiction, poetry and drama by U.S. born Latino/Chicano authors such as Richard Rodriguez, Sandra Cisneros and Luis Valdez.
