German

The German-speaking world combines cutting-edge developments in engineering, science, business, and policy with vibrant histories of music, philosophy, literature, and visual arts. The German language is spoken by over 180 million people world-wide, and our program explores the societies and cultures of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland within wider global contexts. We work closely with various study abroad opportunities (Green Europe, Engineering in Bonn, Junior Year in Heidelberg) and international internship and fellowship programs (Transatlantic Ruhr Fellowship, DAAD, Fulbright). In addition, our Max Kade Center for German Studies allows us to invite German-speaking artists and writers to campus each year and host civic and corporate networking events with representatives of German companies and institutions in the United States.
