FYS 166 Atheists, “Nones,” and the “Spiritual But Not Religious”
One of the fastest growing groups globally is people who identify themselves as having no religious affiliation. In this course, we’ll learn more about these “nones,” from atheists and agnostics to those who call themselves “spiritual but not religious.” Using contemporary and historical examples from around the world, we explore the long and colorful history of critiques of organized religion and the alternative ways of understanding the world and building communities that “nones” have proposed.
