2022-2023 Graduate Catalog

PA 5812 SOCIAL INDICATORS OF HEALTH, EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

In this class, students will analyze the impact of social and political indicators as well as equity, diversity and inclusion on the health and healthcare of individuals, communities, and populations.  They will then evaluate the power of evidence-based group interventions as a path to improving medicine, health, and healthcare. Students will earn a certification in equity, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare from an external organization such as the American Medical Association.  Considering historical and current limitations that exist for equitable and optimal health and using the NJSHADS dataset and collaborating with a NJ healthcare government or non-profit agency or healthcare provider, students and/or teams will create a proposal for implementing an intervention that can improve the health of a specific NJ population.
