EMT 134 Emergency Medicine Foundations
(Contact Hours: 4) The foundations course builds upon what students learned in the EMT basic course sequence by introducing the invasive skills that characterize the paramedic level of care. The focus of this course is to expand the depth of knowledge on topics of airway management and ventilation, and pulmonary function while building competency in performing ventilatory, invasive and surgical airway interventions. Invasive skills for vascular access and various routes of medication administration are practiced at length. This course includes a required orientation component for subsequent clinical courses. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of EMT 115 and either BIO 210 or BIO 215 is REQUIRED.
