COM 101H Honors Public Speaking

(Contact Hours: 3) This is a course designed to teach students the essentials of extemporaneous speaking and help them acquire confidence through practice. The course focuses on managing communication apprehension, developing effective delivery skills and audience analysis. Students acquire a repertoire of speaking skills by planning, practicing, and delivering a variety of speeches, such as impromptu, informative, and persuasive. This is a KVCC Honors Program course. It provides qualified and highly motivated students with an enriched academic environment through high-impact educational practices and experiential learning in a community of scholarly minded peers. Honors course sections facilitate additional academic challenge and lively interaction with peers and faculty members in small classes. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
