CHM 230 Organic Chemistry II

(Contact Hours: 7) This is a general organic chemistry course building and expanding the concepts learned in CHM 220 to cover the physical properties, analysis, preparation, purification, reactions and associated mechanisms involving alcohols, ethers, epoxides, aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, carboxylic acid derivatives and amines. Methods of analysis will include infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, and chromatography. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of CHM 220 is REQUIRED.
