The Office of Military and Veterans Services assists our military personnel, veterans, officer candidates and military family member students in pursuit of their educational and professional objectives. We collaborate with all departments to support students' smooth transition and success in their John Jay studies. Military and Veterans Services assists students with College resources, personal guidance and referral, and extensive programming. It also aids them in obtaining VA, New York State, and military educational benefits.
Veteran students seeking academic advising should contact the Academic Advising Center for a dedicated veteran advisor. Advisement specific to majors and other academic programs is provided by faculty advisers. Contact the major, minor or program coordinator regarding advisement. To find the name of the appropriate faculty member, consult the Majors, Minors, or Certificate Programs section of the Undergraduate Bulletin. Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC) Programs
Eligible John Jay students have an opportunity to enroll in the US Army Senior ROTC in the CUNY Army ROTC program hosted by The City College of New York, and US Air Force Senior ROTC in the New York City Air Force ROTC program hosted by Manhattan College.

The Army ROTC program seeks to commission cadet students upon graduation as 2nd Lieutenants in the US Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. its Military Science classes complement most academic programs. ROTC seeks to educate and equip leaders to become critical thinkers, communicators and planners. The goal of Military Science courses is to develop confident, competent, and adaptive leaders with a basic understanding of military decision-making. The ROTC program consists of eight 3-credit undergraduate elective courses in Military Science taken in sequence. The program may be completed in 4, 3 or 2-years. John Jay students enroll in Military Science classes through the CUNY ePermit process. Students may enroll in the lower level courses without any military obligation. Students who contract to become Army officers are paid a monthly stipend and may compete for scholarships.

Air Force ROTC seeks to select and train individuals to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Air Force. Most graduates who enter the Air Force through ROTC are assigned positions consistent with their academic major. Others, who wish to do so, may qualify to become pilots and navigators. Individuals who complete graduation requirements and the Aerospace Studies Professional Officer Course (POC) receive commissions and enter active duty as second lieutenants. Officers who qualify may take graduate training prior to beginning their military duties. Scholarships are available to qualified students. The Aerospace Studies department offers 3- and 4-year programs to students. Course content includes Foundations of the U.S. Air Force, Evolution of Airpower, Leadership Studies, and National Security Affairs. All lower division courses are one credit hour. Upper division courses are three credit hours. These undergraduate credits may be transferred into John Jay curriculums as electives.
