PHYS 101 Introduction to Physics
Did you know that thermodynamics is the reason your iron is able to get wrinkles out of your clothes? Or that you can blame the Doppler effect for your last speeding ticket? The vocabulary of physics often sounds intimidating, but the reality is that we see physics at work all around us. Learning about it is just a matter of learning the “how” behind the processes we experience in everyday life.
In this course, you’ll learn about key terminology and principles in physics, including Newton’s laws of motion, work, power, energy, electricity, magnetism, sound, and light. You’ll take a deep dive into how these processes work, plus their applications in the real world. By the end of the course, you’ll not only better understand how the universe works but also have a foundation in key scientific reasoning and analytical skills that will help you in any professional field.
Notes
PHYS 101 and PHYS 101L are both required to meet the general education physical and life science laboratory requirement.
