Program Description

Interested in a career working with infants and toddlers? Consider our Infant-Toddler Nursery Supervisor Certificate.

This one-semester, 13 credit certificate provides students with a solid foundation in the growth and development of infants and toddlers, plus advanced exposure in developing and implementing appropriate nurturing and developmental experiences. Working closely with parents is incorporated, as well as the issues of early intervention, high risk, and developmental delays. This certificate meets the requirements for CDHS "Infant-Toddler Nursery Supervisor." Offered at all campuses and Online.

1. Infant & Toddler Theory & Practice (ECE 111).
Note: Offered Online every semester, including Summer. Offered at BCC and WC in the Fall and at LC in the Spring.

2. Intro to Infant-Toddler Lab Tech (ECE 112); Pre/Coreq: ECE 111 may be taken concurrently.
Note: Requires 60 hours of field work in an approved practicum site and a cleared criminal background check on file with FRCC. Offered Online every semester through CCCOnline.

3. Working with Parents & Families (ECE 256). 
Note: Offered Online Fall and Spring.

4. Exceptional Child (ECE 260); Pre/Coreq: ECE 238 or PSY 238. ECE 111 substitutes as a pre- or co-requisite for this certificate.
Note: Offered Online every semester, including Summer. Offered at BCC and WC in the Fall and at LC in the Spring.

5. Infant Nutrition (HWE 141).
Note: Offered Online every semester, including Summer. Offered at BCC and WC in the Fall semester and at LC in the Spring.

The prerequisite for ECE 260 is ECE 238. For this certificate only ECE 111 will substitute for ECE 238. Students who place into CCR 093 or above may begin the coursework for this certificate. Students scoring below this level should consult with a faculty member before registering for courses in this program of study.
