The choice of English electives and what semester or year they are offered is regulated by the department. The department requires at least 9 hours in British literature and 6 hours in American literature. (A) American: Two from ENG 235, ENG 300, ENG 301, ENG 302, ENG 415, or ENG 421 (at least one of the two must be 300, 301, 302, or 415); (B) Single Author: One from ENG 324, ENG 331, or ENG 447; (C) Early Period: One from ENG 326, ENG 335 or ENG 340; (D) 19th Century: One from ENG 345 or ENG 346; (E) Modern Period: One from ENG 350, ENG 410, ENG 416, ENG 440, or ENG 445; (F) Literature Elective: May be fulfilled by any upper level (300-400 level) literature course offered by the English Department which has not already been applied to categories A through E.
