In past semesters, this program included socials, retreats, evenings of spiritual renewal, and arrangements for spiritual direction for graduate students. Graduate students are encouraged to participate in support groups called “households” for personal spiritual growth. There is also a University chaplain available for spiritual guidance and personal counseling for those who desire it.

Baron Counseling Center – 740.284.2717
In accordance with the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Counseling Services provides clinical counseling services grounded in Catholic doctrine and understanding of the human person. Our confidential services are provided by licensed counselors and social workers, as well as by graduate student interns in our Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program under supervision. Our counselors and social workers have all graduated from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in counseling or social work, and all are licensed by the state of Ohio to provide professional psychotherapy (i.e., “counseling”) services. Services are offered on a short-term basis, approximately 7 sessions.
Fees: Counseling sessions are covered under the Student Health Fee.
Trinity Health Clinic at the Baron Health & Wellness Center – 740.270.3194
Franciscan University of Steubenville has partnered with Trinity Health System to operate the an on-campus Health Clinic. The clinic fosters a campus-wide environment in which each student’s vocation to pursue faith and reason is aligned with a healthy mind and body—a holistic wellness approach that supports student success.
The Health Clinic is staffed 40 hours per week by a nurse practitioner and certified medical assistants, with a physician on campus at least once a week. It provides a wide range of outpatient services including diagnosis and treatment for acute and chronic health issues, health screenings and immunizations, as well as referrals to specialists for more complex health care needs. Appointments are recommended however students may utilize the clinic anytime the clinic is open as a “walk in” without an appointment. There is a physician on staff who oversees the clinic. Nurse practitioners are routinely available to see patients.
Fees: Payment for required copays by insurance are due at the time of service. Trinity offers self-pay and uninsured discounts. If utilizing insurance provided by the student’s parents, the insurance company will send an explanation of benefits to the policy holder. If a student chooses to self-pay for services, the confidentiality of the student will be maintained.
