Departmental Overview
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) department at Franciscan University of Steubenville offers one professional program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level professional counseling practice. Graduates from this program will receive the academic and experiential foundations that will enable them to function as clinical counselors in a variety of settings, such as community mental health centers, pastoral settings, drug and alcohol facilities, university counseling centers, and career counseling agencies. The program of study has been developed to address eligibility requirements for counselor licensure in Ohio and most other states; the program itself is CACREP accredited in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty area. The experience and knowledge gained in this program provide a firm foundation for doctoral-level study in counselor education and supervision or counseling psychology.
