Sustainable Enterprises
As climate change and environmental degradation impact human lives and health, the private sector is increasingly focused on environmental issues. Sustainable enterprises are for-profit and non-profit organizations attending to the needs of the present and future generations with products, services, and activities that protect and preserve environmental integrity while achieving financial performance. This minor is designed to build conceptual leadership in the ethical, economic, political, and environmental dimensions of sustainability. Across a breadth of courses, students will learn to understand and address the conflicting issues that often arise at the intersection of business and the environment.

Program Outcomes
Inquiry: Students will learn how to frame relevant questions, select and utilize appropriate, interdisciplinary modes of inquiry in order to identify the significant issues and interrelationships which comprise the ethical, economic, and political well-being of sustainable enterprises in the context of destabilizing environmental systems and climate change.
Knowledge and Application: Students will acquire, integrate, and apply conceptual and empirical knowledge that relates to the complex and interconnected ethical, economic, political, and environmental systems which impact sustainable enterprises.
Communication Skills: Students will analyze, interpret, evaluate, and synthesize information from multiple sources. They will create a collaborative community of learning about developing and managing sustainable and resilient enterprises. They will prepare and present ideas, perspectives, and best practices through verbal (written and oral) and visual formats.
